Man Arrested for Allegedly Sexually Assaulting Woman, Stealing Purse in Huntington Beach

The Huntington Beach Police Department provided this sketch of a man who attempted to sexually assault a woman on Sept. 10, 2014.

Huntington Beach police recently arrested a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman and stole her purse two months prior, according to a department news release.

Jesus Diaz Vasquez, a 30-year-old Huntington Beach resident, was arrested Thursday and charged with sexual assault and robbery.

During the Sept. 10 attack, a man allegedly “knocked her down” and sexually assaulted her before stealing her purse, according to the news release.

Officials initially said the man attempted to assault the woman and she was able to fight off her attacker.

Vasquez was held on $100,000 bail.

His booking photo was not being released because the investigation was ongoing.
