Police were searching for a gunman Sunday who shot and critically injured three people at a private motorcycle club gathering in South L.A.'s Hyde Park neighborhood the previous night.

A man opened fire on the door leading to the gathering near West 54th Street and South Van Ness Avenue (map) around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, according to Los Angeles Police Department officials.

The incident was believed to have occurred after an argument between the man and other event attendees.

Three people standing near the front entrance were struck several times and were all listed in critical but stable condition at a local hospital.

Witnesses said the gunman was with a woman and both fled the scene.

The shooter was described as being in his 20s or 30s. A more detailed description was not made available.
