One woman was killed and at least four others hospitalized following a traffic collision in Hawthorne on Monday morning, police said.

An SUV rear-ended an “access services” minivan about 3:30 a.m. in the 3000 block of El Segundo Boulevard (map), according to a Hawthorne Police Department news release.

A 49-year-old female passenger in the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The minivan’s driver and another passenger were hospitalized.

The SUV’s driver, a 21-year-old woman, and a passenger were also hospitalized.

West El Segundo Boulevard was closed between Crenshaw Boulevard and Wilkie Avenue South for several hours, according to police.
