Police were searching Friday for a hit-and-run driver who allegedly killed a pedestrian on the 105 Freeway in Willowbrook the previous night, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

The pedestrian was killed on the eastbound side of the freeway near the Wilmington Avenue ramp around 11:48 p.m. on Christmas, according to CHP Officer Steven Bishop.

The person accused of hitting the pedestrian was driving a maroon pickup truck, he said.

It was unclear why the pedestrian was on the freeway.

The incident caused a closure of the freeway’s two right lanes until around 2:40 a.m.
