Homicide detectives were investigating Monday if the parents of a 12-year-old boy who died after an apparent asthma attack in Palmdale the previous night could have done more to help save the boy’s life, according to officials.

Detectives began investigating the circumstances surrounding the child’s death around 10:17 p.m. Monday at a home in the 1100 block of West Avenue N-8 (map), according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department news release.

The boy had died after suffering an asthma attack, according to officials at the scene.

It was unclear if he died before arriving at a local hospital.

The death came hours after a 3-month-old child died in Lancaster. Homicide detectives were also investigating the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death.
