Police were searching for a bicyclist who opened fire on a man sitting in a Rolls Royce in Hollywood on Friday night.
The shooting was reported around 8:41 p.m. in a parking lot behind Meltdown Comics near Sunset Boulevard and North Gardner Street, according to Officer Norma Eisenman with LAPD Media Relations.
The victim was sitting behind the wheel of a late-model silver and black Rolls Royce when a man on a bike rode up next to him and opened fire, according to officers at the scene.
The man in the car was hit twice at close range -- once in the neck and once in the cheek, police said.
The victim was conscious as he was transported to Cedars-Sinai hospital. He was expected to survive.
Police said the gunman was riding a 10-speed bike. He was described as a black man in his late 30s to early 40s, about 6 feet tall, wearing a blue cap and jacket and carrying a backpack.
A man matching that description was take into custody a few blocks away. He was later released.
