A pickup truck slammed into an apartment building in Van Nuys on Friday morning after the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle, authorities said. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters responded after the collision happened about 5:34 a.m. in the 13900 block of Vanowen Street (map), the Los Angeles Fire Department said. LAFD officials also notified the Department of Building and Safety.

A female driver, between 35 and 40 years old, was in the vehicle with a male passenger at the time of the incident, said Sgt Matthew Jacobik of the Los Angeles Police Department. The woman “referenced vehicle mechanical issues,” after the crash, Jacobik said.

The truck struck the northwest side the building, leaving a large hole in the corner of the structure, aerial video showed.

An investigation is ongoing.
