A 23-year-old student at Cal State Long beach was arrested Sunday for allegedly stealing suitcases from passenger baggage claim areas at LAX, airport police announced Thursday.

Ryan Green was taken into custody after investigators identified him as the one suspected of a series of baggage thefts from various terminals at the airport, according to a news release from Los Angeles World Airports.

During surveillance operations, investigators allegedly saw Green pick up a bag from a carousel in the baggage claim area in Terminal 5 and walk away with it, the release stated.

Green then walked into a different terminal where he allegedly grabbed bag from another carousel, the release stated.

Investigators said Green then entered a bathroom where he was heard pilfering through the stolen bags.

When Green emerged, he allegedly tossed one of the smaller pieces of luggage into a nearby trash bin, according to the release.

Green was detained outside the airport and ultimately arrested.

He was charged Tuesday with five felony counts of commercial burglary by the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office, the release stated.
