Missing Teen Visiting From China Found Safe in West Hollywood After 3 Day Search

A teenager from China who disappeared three days ago after walking away from his hotel room in Claremont was found safe in West Hollywood Monday.

Jin Wuwei was reported missing Friday evening by his mother after he walked away from his hotel room at the Claremont Lodge (map) at 12:42 p.m., the Claremont Police Department stated in a news release.

Wuwei is from Beijing, China, and arrived in Claremont on Feb. 11.

He was in town visiting local colleges, according to family members.

missing2Wuwei, who is fluent in English, was carrying a backpack and had a limited amount of money when he left the hotel, police stated.

He does not have any family or friends in the area, and it was unclear where he intended to go when walked away.

Wuwei was found safe, sitting on a bench, in the 8400 block of Sunset Boulevard (map) in West Hollywood Monday afternoon, the Police Department confirmed.

No further information was immediately available.
