Man Sought After Robbing El Segundo Hotel at Gunpoint, Police Say

Police on Friday morning were searching for a man who robbed an El Segundo hotel at gunpoint, officials said.

The unidentified man entered a Travelodge hotel in the 1800 block of East Sycamore Avenue (map) about 1 a.m. and brandished an unknown-caliber handgun, according to a news release from the El Segundo Police Department. He then stole an unknown amount of cash from a clerk, the release said.

The robber, described as black and 18 to 20 years old, was wearing a red baseball cap, dark jacket, red T-shirt and dark, pants, police said.

He was last seen running westbound on Sycamore Avenue. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate him, according to the Police Department.

Investigators later released a surveillance photo of the man.
