A pregnant woman was shot multiple times at a park in the Pico-Union area, officials said early Monday.

Officers found the victim at Toberman Park in the 1700 block of Toberman Street, just south of Venice Boulevard and north of the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Michael Williams of the Rampart Station.

She appeared to be about 18 years old, roughly six months pregnant, and suffered multiple gunshot wounds, he said. Her name was not immediately released.

The Los Angeles Fire Department transferred the victim to a hospital, where she was immediately undergoing surgery, he said.
