A search continued Monday for multiple people who exchanged gunfire and shot an 18-year-old playing basketball in San Bernardino the previous day, officials said.

At least two men were arguing at a Baker’s burger drive-through when the shooting occurred in the 1300 block of West Kendall Drive (map), San Bernardino Police Department Lt. Rich Lawhead said.

A single bullet flew across the street, where the teen was playing basketball at Shandin Hills Middle School.

He was struck in the abdomen and transported to a local hospital in serious but stable condition, Lawhead said.

Witnesses reported hearing several rounds fired and investigators think two handguns were used.

Investigators offered no description of the people they were searching for.
