Magnitude-4.2 Earthquake Rocks Fresno County

The U.S. Geological Survey provided this graphic, showing an earthquake that struck near Coalinga on March 27, 2015.

A 4.2-magnitude earthquake shook central California’s Fresno County early Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor hit about 6 miles north of Coalinga and 19 miles northwest of Avenal at 6:30 a.m., the service reported.

It was at a depth of 11 kilometers, or nearly 7 miles.

No damage was immediately reported.
