2 LAPD Officers, Suspect Injured in Altercation During Traffic Stop in Koreatown
What began as a routine traffic stop in Koreatown on Monday night developed into an altercation that left two Los Angeles police officers and a suspect injured, officials said.
The officers were flagged down by a citizen and initiated the traffic stop shortly after 9 p.m. near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue (map), said Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The officers approached the person who had been pointed out to them by the citizen, and a physical struggle ensued, Lopez said. It was unclear what prompted the altercation.
One of the officers suffered a shoulder injury, the LAPD said. The other officer and the suspect were also hurt; the nature of their injuries was not immediately known. All three were transported to a hospital.
The suspect was arrested in connection with the incident, Lopez said.
