A male adult was killed after another car ran a stop sign in the West Hollywood area and collided with his vehicle early Monday, police said.

The victim’s vehicle was headed westbound on Curson Avenue near Fountain Avenue (map) shortly after 2 a.m. when the deadly crash occurred, according to a Los Angeles Police Department sergeant at the scene.

The sergeant initially identified the victim as a child passenger, but an LAPD official later stated a man who was driving had died in the collision. His identity has not been released.

The driver of the other vehicle has been arrested, according to the LAPD sergeant. It was unclear what charge or charges the unidentified person faced.

According to the Los Angeles Times’ mapping tool, the intersection of Curson and Fountain is in West Hollywood and borders the Hollywood area.

No further information was immediately available.
