A 68-year-old man was arrested after being suspected of molesting a 9-year-old over the course of three years at his residence where 150 pounds of pot was also found, police said Saturday.

Joseph Anthony Teixeira was taken into custody Friday morning at his residence in the 13500 block of Philadelphia Street (map) following an investigation into allegations that he had molested a child there over a 3-year period, according to a news release from the Whittier Police Department.

While conducting a search of the suspect’s home, detectives also discovered the marijuana, the release stated.

Teixeira was being held on two counts of lewd acts with a child and one count of possession of marijuana for sale, police officials said in the release. His bail has been set at $400,000.

An arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday.

Authorities were continuing their investigation into Teixeira, and anyone with information was urged to call the Whittier Police Department at 562-567-9270.
