Gayle Anderson was live in Los Angeles for OPERATION SPLASH 2015, now in its tenth year, Kaiser Permanente Southern California’s Operation Splash is a FREE program that teaches children and adults in low-income areas to swim. Operation Splash is part of Kaiser Permanente’s Healthy Eating, Active Living (HEAL) program which focuses on physical activity, reducing obesity and access to healthy foods. This year, Kaiser Permanente Southern California is kicking off Operation Splash by celebrating Special Olympics and presenting the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks Aquatics Division with a $240,000 grant to underwrite swim lessons for children, teenagers and adults at Los Angeles city pools. This community benefit funding makes the total contribution for Operation Splash since 2006 to be more than $5.3 million.

Local Special Olympics athletes helped kick off Operation Splash today in honor of the upcoming 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games hosted by Los Angeles, which takes place from Friday, July 24th through Sunday, August 2nd. Kaiser Permanente will proudly serve as a Founding Champion and Total Health Partner for the World Summer Games, which are expected to bring more than a half million people to the greater Los Angeles area.
