Gayle Anderson was live in Santa Monica with the founder and president of The Recycledman Foundation, Derek Fitzgerald. He departs the Santa Monica pier for a coast-to-coast ride to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Derek is a lymphoma survivor, a heart transplant recipient, and the finisher of multiple Ironman triathlons, marathons, and cycling events - as well as a passionate and visible advocate for cancer research and organ donation and transplantation.

Adding to the heat and mountainous climbs of the 3,400 mile challenge, Derek will also be training for another pair of Ironman triathlons to follow the Tour For a Cure - Ironman Mont-Tremblant in August and the Ironman World Championship in October. This means that at each of Derek’s 43 scheduled overnight stops his mission will include several more committed hours for swim and marathon training.
