An 89-year-old woman who disappeared while hiking in Simi Valley on Tuesday was located by an air unit and apparently transported to a trauma center.

Police personnel, including an off-road enforcement team, and a helicopter searched the area of Hummingbird Ranch near the 118 Freeway at Kuehner Drive for the missing woman, a news release from the Simi Valley Police Department stated.

Video and photos posted on Twitter by the Ventura County sheriff’s Aviation Unit showed a helicopter search of the Rocky Peak Park area.

The woman was transported to a trauma center, a tweet from the unit stated.

Only her hiking poles were visible in the area where she was found, pinned between boulders, according to another tweet.

The rocky area appeared to be at least several hundred feet above the 118 Freeway below.

She had last been seen wearing a white hat, long-sleeve white shirt and tan pants, police said.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the Police Department at 805-583-6950.
