One Dead, Four Injured When Car Plows Into Doughnut Shop in Gardena

A Huntington Park woman was killed and four other people injured when a car slammed into a doughnut shop in Gardena on Tuesday evening.

The crash occurred around 7:20 p.m. near the intersection of Western and Marine avenues (map), according to a tweet from the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Two vehicles collided in the intersection, and the impact sent one of the cars through the wall of the King Doughnut shop, according to Lt. Vince Osorio with the Gardena Police Department.

The driver of the white vehicle that hit the building was transported to the hospital in critical condition and later died from her injuries, according to Gardena Police Lt. Nico.

She was not identified.

Four other patients, including a 6-year-old boy and a shop employee, were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Osorio said.

One of the injured could be seen being loaded onto a stretcher and taken away by ambulance.

The cause of the crash was still being investigated.
