At around 8:50 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a call of a robbery that had occurred at Sevan Mini Market in the 1500 block of North San Fernando Boulevard, according to a news release from the Burbank Police Department.

When they arrived, officers discovered that the business was on fire.

The male victim told police he had been robbed by three people at gunpoint, the release stated. He sustained minor injuries in the incident, but was speaking with investigators.

The assailants were able to flee the scene with an unknown amounts of currency or goods, the release stated. A suspect description has not been provided, and authorities said it was not known whether they fled on foot or in a vehicle.

Arson investigators were working to determine the cause of the blaze, which "appeared" to be related to the robbery, the release stated.

Burbank police have received reports of "explosions" being seen and heard around the time of the robbery, but they did not appear to be caused by an explosive device, officials said in the release. Rather, police suspected they had been caused by merchandise inside the business.

As the investigation into the fire and robbery continued Friday morning, investigators were checking surrounding businesses to see if any surveillance cameras captured the incident.
