A man driving a car struck several vehicles after being fatally shot in Leimert Park on Monday, authorities said.
The unidentified man was behind the wheel of a black 2012 Cadillac in the 4100 block of West 41st Street when he was shot in the chest and arm, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department. The LAPD initially said the victim was hit in the head by gunfire.
The bullet-riddled Cadillac later collided with multiple vehicles about 6:46 p.m. near the intersection of Degnan and Martin Luther King Jr. boulevards, about 1 mile west of the shooting scene, Lopez said.
The man was transported to a hospital, where he died, according to police.
Several people who were involved in the crashes were also taken to hospitals, the LAPD said. Their conditions were not immediately known.
The shooting was believed to be gang-related, police said.
