A Special Olympics athlete from Albania who was last seen Saturday night at the USC campus was reported missing Sunday, according to tweets from L.A.-area police.
Andi Gusmari is 44 years old and described as white, standing about 5 feet 6 inches to 9 inches tall, weighing 180 to 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, police stated.
He was last seen Saturday around 8:30 p.m. at the University of Southern California wearing a red polo shirt, black pants and black shoes.
Gusmari has a speech impediment and does not speak English, but would respond if called by his first name, police said. He had no other known medical conditions and could care for himself.
Gusmari was attending a festival at USC with his coaches and delegation when he disappeared after leaving to use the restroom, Los Angeles Police Department officials said at a news conference.
It was realized he was missing more than two hours later when officials did a headcount of the athletes.
Police had searched the area and began looking for Gusmari off campus.
USC officials sent out an alert about Gusmari's disappearance around 11:10 a.m.
It stated that anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact the Department of Public Safety immediately at 213-740-6000 or the Special Olympics command post at 323-441-1180.
