9 Injured, Including Teens and Kids, When SUV Goes Down Embankment in Trabuco Canyon

Nine people, including three children and two teens, were injured Friday night when an SUV went down an embankment and overturned in the Trabuco Canyon area, authorities said.

The solo-vehicle crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m. in the area of Trabuco Creek and Trabuco Canyon roads, according to the California Highway Patrol’s incident log.

The driver accidentally drove off the road and landed in the creek bed, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Stephen Horner.

A total of nine people were injured. Three patients suffered trauma and six had minor injuries, Horner said.

The patients with trauma were identified by the fire captain as a 4-year-old boy, a 19-year-old man and a 47-year-old female. Their conditions were not immediately known.

A 4-year-old boy, 8-year-old boy, 14-year-old boy, 25-year-old female, 26-year-old female and 40-year-old male were all treated for minor injuries, Horner said.

All of the victims were members of the same family.
