10-Year-Old Boy Reported Missing in Ojai Found Safe After All-Out Search

A 10-year-old boy reported missing in Ojai was found safe by search and rescue volunteers and reunited with his family Monday evening, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

Sammy Evans was last seen on Tree Ranch Road in Ojai, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities were notified the child was missing around 1:40 p.m. He was possibly last seen around 12:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office said.

A sheriff’s search and rescue team, at least one K-9 unit and a helicopter participated in the search for the missing boy.

The boy was found around 7 p.m. about a mile and a half from his home.

No further information was released.
