Residents were on alert Wednesday as police searched for three people believed to be involved in a pair of burglaries in Sierra Madre.

The burglaries took place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday on Monterey Lane (map), the Facebook page for the City of Sierra Madre stated.

Both homes, which are located next door to each other, were ransacked by the burglars, who got away with thousands of dollars, according to the post.

Police were informed by a neighbor that a dark colored SUV was parked near one of the victim's homes.

Then on Tuesday, officers were flagged down at about 5 p.m. by another resident who spotted a silver colored sedan that was unknown to the area, according the Facebook post.

A short time later, police were notified of a similar incident of a suspicious vehicle being spotted by an Arcadia resident, who also described the car as a silver colored sedan.

In both sightings, the sedan was occupied by three black men, according to the post.

The vehicles license plate number was reported as being similar to 7FJW550, but officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
