Firefighters on Saturday extinguished a two-alarm fire that broke out at a commercial structure in Fontana, officials said.

The blaze began at a business in the 15700 block of Arrow Route before spreading to an adjacent junkyard, the San Bernardino County Fire Department said on Twitter shortly after 6 p.m.

Firefighters were initially in “defensive mode” after responding to the scene, then knocked down the flames by 6:40 p.m., according to the agency. An “extensive” mop-up operation was underway.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Arrow Route was closed between Lime and Sultana avenues, according to the Fire Department.

The cause of the blaze was unknown.
