The man’s body was found Sunday after police were called to a large field containing numerous trees and shrubs near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Red Hill Country Club Drive (map), the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.

A deputy at the scene discovered the body of a Caucasian man on the ground, according to the news release.

The name of the man, who authorities did confirm was from Rancho Cucamonga, was being withheld pending family notification.

Homicide investigators were conducting an investigation due to the “suspicious nature of the death,” the Sheriff’s Department stated.

An autopsy would be performed to determine the cause of the man’s death.
