Female Pedestrian Is Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in South L.A.

A female pedestrian died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in South Los Angeles, police confirmed Monday.

The pedestrian was crossing a street near West Century Boulevard and South Hoover Street in the Vermont Vista neighborhood around 11:38 p.m. Sunday when she was struck, Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Susie Padilla said.

The woman was transported to a hospital and died, Padilla said.

A blue SUV, possibly a Toyota 4Runner, was suspected of hitting the woman.

A description of the driver and additional information was not immediately available.
