A man was killed and a woman was hospitalized in serious condition after two men exited a vehicle in Norwalk and opened fire, sheriff’s officials said Thursday.

The victims were shot in the 15100 block of Grayland Avenue (map) around 10:34 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department news release.

The incident unfolded as the pair walked on Grayland and a white vehicle drove alongside them. Two Hispanic men then exited the vehicle, and one or both began shooting, the news release stated.

The gunmen re-entered the vehicle and drove northbound.

The victims were both transported to a local hospital, where the man was pronounced dead and woman was listed in serious condition.

The investigation was ongoing and a more detailed description of the gunmen was not available.
