The Orange County Sheriff's Department provided this photo of Sean Salaber after he was arrested for allegedly sexually groping a woman while holding a gun to her head in Laguna Niguel on Sept. 24, 2015.

Less than an hour after a woman was tackled and sexually groped while a man held what appeared to be a handgun to her head in Laguna Niguel, investigators arrested the person allegedly responsible, sheriff’s deputies said Friday.

A woman was running on the trails near Wood Canyons Regional Park when a man tackled her from behind, held an apparent gun to her head and sexually groped her on Thursday around 6:40 p.m., according to an Orange County Sheriff’s Department news release.

When the woman screamed, the attacker told his victim to be quiet but a bystander heard and responded, scaring off the man.

The woman was able to provide sheriff’s deputies with a thorough description of the man and his clothing.

Sean Salaber, a 22-year-old Riverside resident, was located about 40 minutes later in a residential neighborhood near Kite Hill and Becard drives.

The weapon was later located and determined to be an airsoft gun, sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock said.

Salaber was arrested for attempted rape, false imprisonment and assault with a deadly weapon and held in lieu of $100,000 bail, according to the news release.

He was scheduled to appear in court Monday.
