Man Fatally Stabbed in Fight at Family Gathering in Palmdale: Sheriff’s Dept.
One person was in custody after a 28-year-old man was stabbed to death in Palmdale when an argument escalated into a fight at a family gathering on Saturday night, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded to a home in the 37600 block of Scomar Street shortly before 8 p.m. after receiving a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, sheriff’s officials said in a news release.
When they arrived, they learned the victim and the suspect had been attending the family gathering at the residence when they stepped outside and began to fight, the release stated.
During the physical altercation, the suspect allegedly brandished a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times. The victim was able to go back inside and alert family members, who then called emergency responders for help.
He was taken to an area hospital where he died of his injuries, according to the release. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Angel Garcia, was arrested at the scene by personnel from the sheriff’s Palmdale Station. He was booked on a murder charge and held on $1 million bail, officials said in the release.
The relation between the victim and the suspect was not immediately clear.
An investigation into the deadly stabbing was ongoing.
