After a 10-year-old girl fought off an attempted kidnapper in front of her Costa Mesa home, police said Thursday they are searching for a man in his late teens.

The girl was waiting for a school bus by herself in the 3200 block of Turlock Drive on Thursday Oct. 15 when the man approached her, the Costa Mesa Police Department stated in a news release.

The man, believed to be in his late teens, grabbed the girl around her waist and began to physically carry her away.

The girl managed to break free and ran into her home, where she immediately contacted a relative, police said.

The teen sought was described as having dark skin, with short black hair and a goatee. The color of his T-shirt and shorts was not known and no vehicle was seen.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Detective David Sevilla at 714-754-5637.
