A woman reported to police that a man attempted to kidnap her from a street in Redlands, prompting an investigation that continued on Thursday.

The incident began about 6 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of San Bernardino Avenue and Orange Street, where the woman said she noticed two men following here in a white Toyota Camry or Corolla, according to a news release from the Redlands Police Department. The vehicle was described as having tinted windows and chrome rims.

The victim continued onto the 1500 block of Alta Street, where the car pulled up alongside her, the statement said.

The passenger exited the vehicle, grabbed the woman around her waist and tried to pull her into car, the Police Department said.

“When the victim resisted, the man released her and returned to the vehicle which then drove away,” the news release stated.

The would-be abductor was said to be Hispanic, 45 to 55 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, wearing a dark T-shirt, dark pants and a dark cap with a white logo on the left side. The driver was described only as Hispanic.
