The crash was reported about 10:45 p.m. Thursday on northbound Beach Boulevard, south of Orangewood Avenue, according to an Orange County Sheriff’s Department news release.

Deputies found William Soane Ye lying in the roadway with significant traumatic injuries. They performed lifesaving measures, but Ye was pronounced dead by paramedics who arrived on scene.

The collision occurred in the middle of the block, the release stated.

The vehicle that struck Ye left car parts littered across the roadway, but authorities have not identified the type of vehicle involved, in part because no witnesses were found.

Investigators believe the vehicle has front-end damage, including to its headlamps.
