Homicide detectives were investigating a shooting in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles that left one man dead and another hospitalized Saturday night, authorities said.

The victims were standing in the driveway of an apartment complex in the 1000 block of West 92nd Street — located in the Westmont neighborhood of South L.A. — when they were shot, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

One of the victims died at the scene, sheriff’s officials said.

The second man was transported to a local hospital and was last reported to be in stable condition, according to the release.

The identities of both victims have yet to be released.

Authorities were also unsure whether one or multiple people opened fire on the pair. A description of a possible shooter or shooters was not provided.

The Sheriff’s Department has urged anyone with information about the incident to call its Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.

Anonymous tips can also be left by dialing Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
