Authorities in San Dimas captured mountain lion that was roaming the streets Sunday evening shortly after sunset.

The mountain lion was spotted prowling along Bonita Avenue and as of 7:45 p.m., was hanging about in a dirt lot near Bonita and Eucla avenues in the San Gabriel Valley city, said Sgt. Jorge Chavez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The area has mostly commercial properties, including shops and a bowling alley, and is about one block from the 57 Freeway. Sheriff's deputies monitored the lion while waiting for assistance from the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control.

An official with the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control used a net to capture the lion shortly after 8:30 p.m., said sheriff's Lt. Thomas Reid.
