Burglar Smashes Through Display Window at Beverly Grove Boutique; Surveillance Video Released

Surveillance video released Tuesday shows a burglar smashing through a display window at a high-end boutique in Beverly Grove and making off with more than a dozen purses and other merchandise, Los Angeles police said.

The burglary happened about 2:40 a.m. Friday at Parabellum, a store located in the 8200 block of Melrose Avenue, according to an LAPD news release.

In the footage, the thief is seen breaking the window with a sledgehammer before stuffing 15 purses, each worth about $2,500, and other items into an industrial-size laundry bag, the statement said.

The man was described as black, 40 to 50 years old, 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 260 pounds. He is seen in the footage wearing a white towel or rag on his head, a black shirt, blue jeans, white shoes and gloves.

Detectives from the LAPD’s Wilshire Division asked for the public’s help in identifying the man.
