Homicide Detectives Investigate East L.A. Shooting That Left Man Dead

An investigation was underway early Tuesday after a man was shot to death in East L.A., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded shortly before 10 p.m. Monday to the 100 block of South Bonnie Beach Place (map) after receiving a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, sheriff’s officials said in a news release.

They discovered the victim, identified only as a 48-year-old Hispanic man, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

Witnesses told investigators they heard gunshots, but did not see any people or vehicles in the area, authorities said.

No further information was released about the investigation, which the Sheriff’s Department said was ongoing.
