Dave Roberts is expected to be named the next manager of the Dodgers on Monday, according to multiple people familiar with the situation who spoke under the condition of anonymity because the hiring hasn’t been officially announced.

A former Dodgers outfielder, the 43-year-old Roberts will be the first minority manager in the franchise’s history. His father is African-American and his mother is Japanese.

Roberts was most recently the bench coach of the San Diego Padres.

Once a swift-footed outfielder, Roberts played in the major leagues for 10 seasons. He became an established player with the Dodgers, who acquired him leading up to the 2002 season.
