Woman, 21, Identified After Being Killed in East L.A. Area; Investigation Continues

Officials on Sunday released the name of a Los Angeles woman whose death was being investigated as a homicide.

Kassandra Ochoa, 21, was identified by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, said Lt. Larry Dietz, a spokesman for the agency. Her cause of death was not immediately disclosed.

Homicide detectives responded shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday to the 470 block of South Sydney Drive, in the East L.A. area, where the woman was pronounced dead, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A search for the suspected killer was conducted in the area overnight. No arrests have been announced.

A candlelight vigil was expected to held Sunday evening in honor of Ochoa near the location where she died, according to a friend.
