Man Shot and Killed During Confrontation with Sheriff’s Deputies in Norwalk

A man was fatally shot during a confrontation Tuesday night with sheriff’s deputies working with a gang unit in Norwalk.

The shooting occurred around 6:30 p.m. near Imperial Highway and Pioneer Boulevard, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies with the department’s “Operation Safe Streets” made a pedestrian stop on two men, according to LASD Lt. Victor Lewandowski.

Both men drew weapons on the deputies and a shooting occurred, Lewandowski said.

The wounded man was pronounced dead at the scene. The second suspect was uninjured and was taken into custody.

Two guns were recovered from the scene, according to Lewandowski.

No deputies were injured.
