A hit-and-run driver was being sought Sunday after a pedestrian was found fatally struck in Hollywood, according to LAPD officials.

Police responded around 4:40 a.m. to reports of a man down in the street, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Osborne said. Sgt. Pettway later said the officers responded around 3:30 a.m.

Video of the scene showed the incident occurred near Hollywood Boulevard and Ivar Way.

A man was found dead at the scene after an apparent hit-and-run, Osborne said. Los Angeles County coroner’s officials later identified him as Robert John Ryan, 24, of Oxnard.

No vehicle description was immediately available, and investigators were asking that witnesses come forward.

Police also planned to review surveillance video, if available, once businesses in the area reopened.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the LAPD at 213-473-0234 during regular business hours, and at 213-473-0222 during off hours, Osborne said.
