Officers were initially responding about 4:30 p.m. to a report of a domestic disturbance, near Saticoy Street and Oso Avenue, when multiple callers reported shots fired in the area, LAPD Capt. Alan Hamilton told reporters at the scene.

Police entered an apartment building at the nearby intersection of Keswick Street and Oso Avenue, where they found two people who had each been shot multiple times, according to the captain.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the man and woman dead at the scene, Hamilton said. The victims were not immediately identified.

Investigators do not believe the incident was a murder-suicide, but no information about the shooter was available, the captain said.

An investigation is ongoing.
