Man Shot and Killed While Sitting in Car in Boyle Heights

Police were investigating the death of a man who was fatally shot while sitting in his car Monday afternoon in Boyle Heights.

The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. on Second Street between Cummings and St. Louis streets, according to Officer Mike Lopez with the Los Angeles Police Department.

The victim, described as a Hispanic man in his mid-30s, was inside his car when the assailant either walked up or drove up and shot him, Lopez said

After being wounded, the victim drove a short distance before crashing into several parked cars, according to police.

The wounded man died at the scene, Lopez said.

Investigators believed the shooting was gang-related.
