Suspected Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested Following Fatal Crash in Santa Ana

Police have arrested a man believed to be driving the vehicle that fatally struck a pedestrian in a hit-and-run crash in Santa Ana over the weekend.

Ramiro Garcia Jr., 23, of Santa Ana, was booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run in connection with the crash that killed a man who was walking on South Fairview Street and West Dahl Lane (map) Sunday evening, the Santa Ana Police Department stated in a news release.

Orange County firefighters responded and pronounced the victim, who was not identified, dead at the scene.

Investigators believe Garcia was traveling south on Fairview when he struck the victim and then fled the scene, according to the news release.

Garcia was also booked on suspicion of driving with a suspended license and probation violation, according to the Police Department.

Garcia’s sister, Rosa Garcia, and sister-in-law, Janette Cuevas, were arrested during the investigation on suspicion of accessory to a felony and conspiracy to obstruct justice, according to the Police Department.
