These two former Senate Majority Leaders, one conservative Republican and one liberal Democrat, have written a book about how they managed to get beyond partisanship and found ways to maintain a positive work relationship and even a warm friendship.  They are sounding an alarm on the current polarization of government.  And they list what’s damaging government: the permanent campaigning, the unprecedented amount of money and the 24/7 news cycle. Daschle co-founded the Bipartisan Policy Center and serves as Chair of the Center for American Progress Board of Directors. His books include: *Like No Other Time* (about the 107th Congress) and *Critical* (about the health care crisis) Lott is the Senior Fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center and is now Senior Counsel at Squire Patton Boggs.  His memoir is titled *Herding Cats*.
