A Texas woman was arrested after allegedly putting her 2-year-old daughter in an oven, leaving the little girl with severe burns, according to multiple reports.

Tasha Shontell Hatcher, 35, had been charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury in connection to the March 17 incident, the Associated Press reported on Sunday.

Somervell County Sheriff's Department's deputies responded to a home shortly before midnight after receiving a report of a 2-year-old child with burns on her body, according to a statement obtained by local television station KDFW in Dallas and posted to its Facebook page.

Witnesses reported to deputies that Hatcher told them she had placed the toddler in an oven, the statement said.

The girl was being treated at a burn center in Dallas for second- and third-degree burns. She was placed in the custody of Child Protection Services, according to KDWF, citing an agency spokesperson.

Her condition was not immediately known.

Hatcher appeared in court Saturday. Her bond has been set at $300,000, AP reported.
