The boy was in the care of the 15-year-old’s adoptive mother while the teen was attending school, according to the news release.

Paramedics took the child to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:28 p.m.

There were no visible signs of trauma to the child, Deputy Trina Schrader stated in the news release.

An autopsy was to be conducted to determine the cause of death, Schrader stated.
