A man was taken into custody after neighbors discovered his wife naked on a Monterey Park street with about two dozen stab wounds Thursday, police said.

The unclothed woman was found bleeding near the intersection of Newmark Avenue and Monterey Pass Road around 6:20 p.m., according to Lt. Wiese of the Monterey Park Police Department.

She was in the shower when she was stabbed approximately 24 times, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The woman ran outside the home where she was discovered by neighbors, Wiese said. A trail of blood led police back to the couple’s home.

She was rushed to the hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, according to the lieutenant.

The husband was taken into custody, Weise stated. It was unclear if he was arrested.

Police haven’t been unable to obtain a full statement because she only speaks Chinese, according to Wiese. He told the Times that detectives fluent in Chinese were called in to assist with the investigation.
